Introduction

Breast cancer survivorship often marks a significant milestone, yet the journey beyond survival can be challenging and overlooked. One woman’s compassionate crochet project has transformed into a vast support network that empowers breast cancer survivors across India and beyond, restoring their confidence and dignity through thoughtfully crafted breast prosthetics and more.

The Journey from Survival to Support

After surviving breast cancer surgery, the celebration of life is common. However, what happens after survival is often not talked about much. In 2017, Jayashree Ratan began crocheting to help one woman feel whole again. Her simple act of knitting a pair of breast prosthetics has grown into a larger cause known as Saaisha India.

Growth of Saaisha India

Today, Saaisha India has over 350 volunteers across India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). These volunteers distribute more than 500 breast prosthetics every month. All prosthetics are provided completely free to those who need them. So far, the group has given out over 29,000 breast prosthetics and 5,000 pediatric chemo caps.

Upholding Dignity After Cancer

Saaisha India believes that dignity after cancer is not a luxury; it is a right. The organization supports women and children affected by cancer by offering them items that help restore their confidence and comfort.

“Dignity after cancer is not a luxury; it is a right that every survivor deserves to reclaim.”

Sharing Stories of Courage

The effort also encourages people to recognize those who choose courage over comfort. You can share stories or tag a #ForceForGoodHero on social media to highlight inspiring individuals.
