Naresh Akil’s Commitment to Rescued Animals
In 2025, Naresh Akil made a life-changing decision to leave his job after witnessing the repeated abandonment of pets. Motivated by compassion, he founded Thozhuvam, an animal sanctuary located in Coimbatore dedicated to providing care and shelter for abandoned animals.
The Journey of Thozhuvam Sanctuary
Initially, many doubted the feasibility of Naresh’s vision, dismissing the sanctuary as unlikely to succeed. Nevertheless, his unwavering dedication and daily hard work gradually transformed the sanctuary into a thriving refuge.
A Diverse Haven for Animals
Today, Thozhuvam is home to more than 200 rescued animals representing 35 different species. Despite a modest team of just seven caretakers, including Naresh and his wife who live on-site full time, the sanctuary continues to provide comprehensive care to its residents.
Naresh Akil’s steadfast commitment demonstrates how consistent effort and empathy can create a sanctuary that gives hope and a second chance to hundreds of abandoned animals.
