Empowering MSMEs to Access Global Markets

The India SME Forum (ISF) has unveiled an innovative initiative titled “Start Exporting in Eight Weeks,” aimed at helping Indian MSMEs tap into global markets and enhance their export capabilities within a short time frame. This program was officially announced by Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, Minister of State for the Ministry of MSME, during the Business Beyond Borders 2024 Conference held in Bangalore, where numerous MSMEs and industry leaders gathered.

Comprehensive Support for MSMEs

The “Start Exporting in Eight Weeks” program is designed to provide comprehensive support to MSMEs aspiring to explore international market opportunities. It offers guidance, resources, and networking opportunities at no cost, aligning with ISF’s flagship initiative, ‘IndiaXports’. This initiative underscores ISF’s commitment to fostering global trade opportunities for MSMEs, in line with the Government of India’s vision to promote economic growth and empower enterprises through international trade.

Minister’s Remarks on the Importance of MSMEs

During the launch, Minister Karandlaje emphasized the vital role MSMEs play in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. She stated, “Their success is essential to our nation’s journey toward becoming a developed and self-reliant India. In today’s competitive landscape, skilling and upskilling are crucial, and it is imperative that our products meet international, export-quality standards. Through platforms like the India SME Forum and partners like Amazon and UPS, our entrepreneurs will connect with global markets, unlocking new avenues for growth and collaboration. We must seize these opportunities to strive for global excellence.”

Transforming MSMEs into Global Trade Powerhouses

Mr. Vinod Kumar, President of India SME Forum, remarked on the transformative impact of e-commerce, noting that it has removed traditional trade barriers and enabled even the smallest enterprises to access international customers easily. He added, “By leveraging digital platforms, MSMEs can navigate many logistical challenges associated with traditional exporting, making global trade more accessible than ever. The ‘Start Exporting in Eight Weeks’ initiative aims to empower Indian MSMEs to become a powerhouse in global trade. By equipping them with the necessary tools, knowledge, and access to international markets, we are enabling these businesses to become self-sufficient, competitive on a global scale, and significant contributors to India’s economic growth.”

Notable Dignitaries and Conference Highlights

The launch event featured notable dignitaries, including Ms. Dona Ghosh, Joint Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), and Mr. Bhupen Wakankar, Head of Global Trade at Amazon India. The Business Beyond Borders 2024 Conference included a variety of engaging sessions, workshops, and B2B country meetings designed to empower MSMEs to succeed in exporting.

Addressing Key Issues in Global Trade

Additionally, the conference highlighted important topics such as accelerating e-commerce exports and addressing the gender gap in global trade, with insights from industry leaders including Mr Britto Premkumar from UPS, Mr Ganesh Yogesh Pai from Yes Bank, and Mr R. Sampath Raghavan, Head of EXIM & Logistics at Raymond. Over 300 MSMEs and businesses participated in this significant event.
